Designed by Jordi Vilanova in 1965, its name comes from the similarity of the model with a lantern or hand lantern, « fanal » in Catalan, with a grip to be able to transport or hang it.
Remaining faithful to the debate between crafts and industrial design that unequivocally determined Jordi Vilanova’s career, in our re-edition we have introduced new materials for the lampshades to also enhance the Mediterranean spirit of the collection.

It was a benchmark in the transition between the ways of making crafts and industrial design and deliberately positioned itself in a “third way”, in search of a new modern aesthetic based on Mediterranean roots that fit perfectly into the social and technical idiosyncrasies of Catalonia.
Due to its great versatility, Jordi Vilanova introduced the lamp in different types of environments: apartments on the Spanish coast, flats in the city, mountain houses, shops, offices, etc.
