Originally named Airborne Upholstery Ltd and directed by George Ingram Junior, the name of the company is yielded, following his death at the beginning of the Fifties, by his heirs, to Charles Bernard. The latter buys back the name Airborne for the field of furniture, in Europe at first and then the whole world except for the English speaking countries.

In its workshops in Montreuil, Airborne specializes in the use of metal and round iron which allows it to create collections for Africa.

The company also turns to the general public. Charles Bernard appoints his son Philippe to develop the creation of a network of distributors in the provinces and André Herbomel to develop the one in the Paris region.

With strong growth, Charles Bernard moved to Tournus in a 25,000 m2 building.

And modernization is one of the strong points of Airborne. The company adapts to the appearance of new materials derived from petroleum, such as ABS, methacrylate, polyethylene and uses them to create round and colored furniture !

In the 70’s, Airborne becomes a creator, an editor and a manufacturer of international fame with 400 sales points for Airborne Residence, 300 for the Communities, direct commercial agencies in about fifteen countries and operators under license in eight others.

In 2010, two friends of the South-West, buy at the bar of the Court of Nanterre, the name of the company, the various patents and a small stock of armchairs AA and tables AO.

Today, with its network of 300 design stores in France and 200 abroad, Airborne intends to become a French publisher in its own right.
