The Story of Hilding Anders

Before becoming a leading global bedding & mattress company, the original Hilding Anders started off as a small, family-owned furniture factory in Bjärnum, Sweden. The year was 1939 and initially we produced all sorts of furniture, but gradually shifted the focus towards beds and bedding solutions. The transformation into a global force in the industry did not take place overnight, nor did it happen by chance. Following a clear strategic direction, the Hilding Anders Group is constantly reinforced its market position through organic growth as well as add-on acquisitions.

We are one of the few players in the market with a track record of acting as a consolidator in the industry, having made 23 acquisitions since 2001. We are proud to have some of the world’s most prestigious mattress brands as part of our portfolio, with various brands having more than 100 years of experience.

The businesses that have come into the Hilding Anders family have similar roots to our own. Before becoming top players in their respective markets, many of them began just like Hilding Anders as small, regional companies, with entrepreneurial founders who were willing to take risks and had a keen eye for opportunities. Today, we leverage this shared entrepreneurial spirit on a global scale.

Our Headquarters

Our headquarters is in Malmö, Sweden, but our reach extends far beyond. Despite the size of our global scale, we never lose sight of the individual sleeper. Thanks to our large manufacturing footprint we can ensure that we cater to specific consumer needs in the respective local markets. This unique combination makes us, as we believe, one of the top players in improving peoples’ lives through sleep.

Hilding Anders has been striving to help people get a good night’s sleep since 1939. What started in a carpentry workshop has grown to become one of the world’s largest sleep providers. We are proud to deliver bedding and sleep solutions for all needs – from the most basic, to the most exclusive; from Scandinavia to Asia. Our roots and our headquarters are in Sweden, but our competitive strength is in the 5 000 colleagues we have around the world. During the past years we have implemented a new action plan covering operational, organisational, and financial excellence regarding an overriding sustainability approach. The plan goes together with on-site gap analyses and training activities and is a natural part of yearly planning.
