Who we are

We are Richmond Interiors, a wholesaler of luxury furniture and accessories. A family business where warmth, short lines and flexibility play the leading role. Our roots are in retail, in our own furniture stores. So we know from experience what retailers need and how we can best support them. Private individuals are also welcome in our high-end showroom . Here they get inspiration and we stay in contact with the end consumer. We gain inspiration for our collection during our travels to different continents, visits to international trade fairs and by always having an eye for luxury and striking items. Our collection always meets the latest trends in the furniture and interior design world. That’s a promise!

From past to present

In the 1980s, Lex Tiggeler senior worked at his father’s metal workshop. When the company closes down, Lex enters the world of antique furniture. Good news travels fast. Soon, everyone in Obdam and the surrounding area knows when Lex returns from England with a van full of antiques and they are eager to get their hands on the furniture. Lex opens his first shop in Heerhugowaard under the name the Spieghel and soon shops followed in Bussum, Bergen, Purmerend and Ursem.

Purchasing grows and Lex slowly but surely starts importing furniture. He has a nose for good business and in the Czech Republic, where many antique cabinets are in circulation, he goes along the doors to buy old cabinets. He started a business there where he stripped the antique cabinets, leached them and waxed them. He sells the refurbished cabinets in the Netherlands and when all the old cabinets have been collected, he has them reproduced. A next step towards Richmond Interiors that we know today, he takes in Romania. In his own factory he produces a trailer full of beautiful furniture every day. At the same time, Lex is also active in Indonesia to meet the market demand for teak furniture. When the teak trend slowly passes, Lex is one of the first to step out of teak and find opportunities in China to expand the collection of furniture and decoration.

A new start

Son Lex and daughter Anne-Roos are at home in the shops. Lex junior takes care of deliveries and fills shops. Anne-Rose enjoys decorating the shops and creating the right atmosphere. In this way, they grow along with the company.

Richmond Interiors is a furniture wholesaler and sells its products exclusively through its extensive dealer network.
As a family business with short lines, we switch gears at lightning speed. We respond immediately to new trends and ensure ample availability for our retailers within no-time . We show our dealers what a complete Richmond room looks like with appealing visualizations. We support new dealers – if desired – with store plans that we draw in 3D. We provide training for the sales staff so that they know our collection from a to z. Our dealers deserve the best service and that starts with complete documentation, available stock, fast delivery options and up-to-date information about the order process.

Together, we ensure that everyone can enjoy a completely luxurious interior. Luxury for everyone!

In the meantime we are regularly present at international fairs and we decide to give the company a new face in order to grow further. When Lex and Anne-Roos joined the company in 2011, de Spieghel continued under the internationally acclaimed name Richmond Interiors. We said goodbye to the antique style and created a complete lifestyle program. In order to focus fully on expanding the wholesale business and to position Richmond completely and strongly in the market, we closed the stores.

Fate strikes when a major fire destroys our company in 2016. With help and trust from staff, suppliers and dealers, we rebuild everything and immediately make great strides towards the future. After two difficult years Richmond Interiors grown into the company we always had in our heads. A wholesaler with a complete, luxury program to furnish your home, active in more than ten countries and accessible to everyone. A dream coming true!
