From Wood Offcuts to High-End Pepper Mill

In an eco-design approach, the Garenne pepper mill was designed by Atelier Prosper to make use of the solid wood offcuts from our cabinetry that are too small for the production of Delavelle furniture.
Manufactured in our cabinetry workshop in Franche-Comté, specifically in Saulnot (70), the Garenne mill is available in several types of solid wood: oak, walnut, beech, or hornbeam, offering numerous customization options to proudly present eco-responsible salt and pepper shakers to your guests.

A Pepper and Salt Mill with a High-Quality CrushGrind® Ceramic Mechanism

This designer salt and pepper mill features a ceramic grinding mechanism for precise grinding, providing durable resistance to oxidation even when in contact with salt or pepper. The particle size is easily adjustable across multiple levels to satisfy the preferences of discerning gastronomes. Finally, CrushGrind® is renowned for its high quality, backed by a 25-year warranty on the mechanism.

Eco-Design at the Core of Our Pepper Mill

From the design phase onward, we aim to optimize material usage to minimize our impact on the environment. During the furniture manufacturing process, all solid wood offcuts are collected and repurposed: waste is either reused to create various components of our furniture, repurposed to make accessories, or as a last resort, utilized as fuel to power our biomass boiler, heating the workshop.

Great attention has been given to the production of this salt and pepper mill. Each pepper mill is machined and hand-finished in an artisanal manner with a natural oil suitable for food contact.

Local PEFC Wood

This pepper mill is made from solid wood offcuts from the furniture manufacturing process at Atelier Hugo Delavelle. The wood used comes from forests within 2 to 15 km around the workshop.

The wood used, as well as our workshop and sawmill, are PEFC certified (Pan European Forest Certification). This ensures that the processed wood comes from sustainably managed forests. Our supplies are regularly inspected by an independent organization.

Preserved Environment

Eco-design is a preventive approach that minimizes the product’s impact on the environment:

• Valorization of wood offcuts from our furniture manufacturing.
• Use of local wood: a natural, renewable, and recyclable resource.
• Repairable: natural wood can always be sanded and restored.

Indoor Air Quality

This pepper mill is made with natural, untreated solid wood, without any glue or other toxic additives (VOCs, formaldehydes, etc.) to provide you with a guarantee of healthiness.

Maintenance

The Garenne mill is already oiled, but if you wish, you can apply a food-grade oil (olive oil, for example) occasionally or regularly depending on usage.
