Advantages KIEHL France
All packaging is recyclable
The products are certified with various eco symbols
Organic raw materials characterised by being highly biodegradable
Product Efficiency, Ecosystem & Health for Users
- KIEHL products, which have been certified with various eco symbols, only contain raw materials which are harmless to human health and ecosystem.
- 39 KIEHL product recipes currently have a Type I environmental seal in accordance with EN ISO 14024.
- In addition, 70 product recipes contain plant-based raw materials.
- Low VOC values (volatile organic compounds) are guaranteed for products certified with Nordic Swan, among other things.
- All KIEHL coatings are below the VOC limits of the French “A+ VOC regulation”.
- Some coatings are free of TBEP plasticisers.
- All KIEHL products are free of butyl glycol, with the exception of several special cleaners.
- Our products achieve maximum efficiency by having a combination of effective raw materials.
Service & Responsibility
- Professional customer advice and a comprehensive range of training courses and seminars.
- Continuous support and further training of employees in application and dosing technology as well as in the product application.
- We raise constant awareness of environmental protection among the employees.
- KIEHL provides users with “safe-system” occupational safety solutions (e.g. “KIEHL Secura-Drumtainer” and “KIEHL Secura-BiB” packaging systems).
Circular Economy & Lifecycle
- Renewable plant-based raw materials or raw materials which have been reclaimed from a technical cycle (e.g. new care components made from polymer waste) are increasingly being used in KIEHL products. 70 product recipes currently contain plant-based raw materials.
- These organic raw materials (e.g. surfactants) are characterised by being highly biodegradable.
- We provide plastic packaging consisting of up to 95% of PCR “post consumer-recycled” materials.
- Continuous improvement and conversion to even more environmentally friendly packaging with a maximum proportion of PCR materials.
- The trigger spray nozzles which are used contain a significant proportion of PCR plastic.
- All packaging is recyclable.
- Transparent bottles and the KIEHL return system improve the granules obtained by means of recycling, and make the cycle for new identical and similar packaging possible.
- The KIEHL reusable system for 5 L, 10 L, 20 L, 25 L, 200 L containers guarantees the least environmental impact and an ideal packaging cycle.
- Highly concentrated KIEHL products reduce the packaging and transport volume, because the best kind of packaging is packaging which isn’t put into circulation in the first place.
Climate Protection & Energy Sources
- Attention is paid to reducing greenhouse gases throughout the entire value creation process.
- The KIEHL logistics and competence centre has been operated without fossil fuels such as gas and heating oil since 2008. Heating and air conditioning take place using geothermal probes and water heat pump technology. Additional heating using wood chips/wood pellets only takes place at very low outside temperatures.
- The photovoltaic system on the roof of the logistics centre makes the building a “plus-energy industrial building”.
- All forklifts and industrial trucks are powered by electricity.
- The numerous other measures which have been taken mean that despite increasing production volumes, greenhouse gas emissions.
- (CO2 equivalents) will be reduced by approximately 50% in 2023 in comparison to 2021 for the central plants in Odelzhausen (EN ISO 14064, scope 1+2).
- The CO2 emission equivalents were reduced from more than 20 kg per tonne of production in 2018 to approx. 9.3 kg/tonne in 2023 (EN ISO 14064, scope 1+2).
- We want to achieve climate neutrality without compensation by making further direct investments in the KIEHL locations and the KIEHL value creation chain.
- The climate neutrality with compensation which was achieved in 2023 (for the central plants in Odelzhausen, scope 1+2 in accordance with EN ISO 14064) represents a transitional solution for us. We make donations in order to support the Munich district “Aktion Zukunft+” (Action Future+) initiative in its regional climate protection projects “Forest conversion in Forstenrieder Park” and “Renewable energies in the global south”.
Water & Wastewater
- KIEHL products are designed in such a way as to minimise the amount of freshwater that is required during the application.
- The KIEHL production plants have been optimised in a way that it has been possible to continuously reduce the amount of process water that is needed per tonne of production.
- The quality of the wastewater is constantly being improved.
- The wastewater treatment plant for the KIEHL production plants automatically checks the quantity and quality of the wastewater, and is connected online to the control centre of the municipal sewage treatment plant.
