It may seem an oxymoron to define us this way. We are a factory for the organization of the productive factors, the development of the product, the marketplace analyses and the management control. We are artisans because we put the people as centerpiece of our production and with their “savoir-faire” they determine our business success.

Our fabrics have an high colour fastness and UV protection, the frames are realized with first class materials and the padding of the cushions is without CFC

We actively collaborate with our suppliers to make improvements and work on new projects. Many of our designs are the result of our studies and are Maffei exclusives.

Maffei srl is extremely mindful of the environment. Our raw materials are made in respect of the community laws and do not contain harmful products. The products are designed with the best materials so that they can endure the passing of time, avoiding wastes. Most of our leftover fabrics are re-employed in “shoppers” sold alongside our products completely free of charge.

We have always selected suppliers who share the same values and quality standards as us, and preferably to be on our same area. With the passing of the years we always tried to introduce to the parasol market the fiberglass as material for the poles. Extremely more resistant, resilient and durable.

History

Maffei srl is a Company founded in 1953. Our products are manufactured in our factory in Borgomanero (Novara, Piedmont) and made following italian and european regulations about MADE IN ITALY

Maffei’s business starts in 1953 as umbrellas production. The concept is to carry on the traditional work of the “lusciat”, figures who were very popular in the northern Novara area (Piedmont).
“lusciat” were itinerant artisans who made and repaired umbrellas. Umbrellas needed to last over time being a precious resource to families.

The opening of a hats and umbrellas shop in the city centre of Borgomanero (Novara, Piedmont) was followed by the construction of the workshop which is still the company’s headquarter.

Sadly over the 70s and the 80s umbrellas became less and less prestigious and the italian manufacturers were overwhelmed by chinese competitors with low quality, low cost products.

However, the Maffei brothers already started to steer the production towards the garden parasol. Over the years the collection has grown with many exclusive items.
Today, Maffei is a renowed brand in Europe and a reference point in the outdoor furniture design.
