The Edikio alternative range is part of a global approach by the brand to meet the growing need of professionals to reduce the environmental impact of their activities. Tested and validated by Edikio’s R&D and Quality departments, this range is suitable for a wide range of uses and offers a high quality, professional finish.
Ecological, functional and aesthetic, Evolis High Trust® PLA/BOIS cards are the ideal alternative to PVC cards for buffet labels, privilege cards or presentation labels.

Environmentally-friendly cards:

PLA/BOIS cards are made from bio-sourced materials, some of which are recycled. Polylactic acid (PLA) is a biosourced plastic made from renewable, natural raw materials such as maize and other plant starches. It is not derived from petroleum and is non-toxic when incinerated. 50% of the PLA used to manufacture our cards comes from ‘post-industrial’ recycling. This secondary material comes from European industrial sites in the agri-food sector. The wood fibres used are co-products of industrial processing (e.g. construction, furniture) of PEFC-certified wood resources from sustainably managed forests.

The environmental impact of a PLA/BOIS card is significantly lower than that of a PVC card.

A life cycle assessment of our PLA/BOIS cards has been carried out to evaluate the environmental footprint of these cards, with the support of the CODDE department of LCIE Bureau Veritas and in accordance with ISO standards 14040 and 14044. On average, the PLA/BOIS card has 42% less impact than the PVC card on all the indicators*. The largest percentage variations concern the following indicators: Ozone depletion and Water pollution.

Functional cards

Tested and validated by Evolis R&D and Quality departments, these consumables bring you quality and reliability for monochrome printing. PLA/BOIS cards offer functional properties similar to those of conventional plastics: easy to clean, reusable and durable.

Aesthetic cards

With their natural wood look, our cards will enhance many buffet configurations or product presentations.

Characteristics

General characteristics :

• Cards made from PLA and wood fibre (78.5% PLA, 50% of which is recycled, 20% wood fibre, 1.5% dye).
• Natural wood appearance. Due to the use of natural fibres, there may be some variations from one card to another (distribution of colour and wood fibres).
• Size: 85.6 mm x 54 mm.
• Thickness : 0.76 mm / 30 mil.
• Packaging : Carton of 5 boxes of 100 cards. Sold by 500 cards.

Compatibility and packaging: PLA/BOIS cards are compatible with BLACK RMS ribbon.

* To use the BLACK RMS ribbon with the Edikio Access and Edikio Flex solutions, the driver and firmware must be updated.

Storage information

Store in a dry, controlled environment: the storage temperature should be around 20-25°C (68-77°F) and relative humidity around 40-60%. After opening, avoid dust, direct sunlight, humidity and high temperatures. Do not store near solvents or chemicals.

Use recommendations: To optimise print quality and card durability.

• Do not print damaged, folded, dirty or deformed cards.
• To maintain print quality, do not touch the printable surface of the cards.
• Do not expose labels to strong sources of heat (possible deterioration from 50°C / 122°F).
• Avoid thermal shock.
• Avoid exposing labels to moisture.
• Avoid contact between printed labels and greasy substances.
• Do not clean labels in a washing machine or with abrasive detergents. Clean with a microfibre cloth soaked in hot water.
