Enjoy a natural ambience

The sdl avantgarde wintergarden will bring you closer to nature in two ways: the wood on the inside of the roof makes it a unique, natural product, lending the room a homely feel. The high-quality woods used in the design allow you to make the roof any shape you like. The furniture-quality wooden surfaces and the limitless choice of shapes, colours and functions give you maximum creative freedom for your design. The aluminium covers on the outside provide protection against the effects of weathering. The covers are available in any ral colour, of course, thus ensuring that the roof system matches the exterior design of your building perfectly.

The perfect combination of materials

With its unique combination of wooden and aluminium materials, the roof system is sure to impress.

Characteristics

Design features

  • The load-bearing structure is manufactured using laminated spruce planks of elite surface quality and strength class BS 11 in accordance with DIN 1052-1.
  • Specially selected, high-quality, “almost knotless” laminated planks are used for this system. Wood sourced from sustainable forestry is also available on request.
  • The construction is designed not to transfer structural loads to the elements. All the structure’s exterior elements, such as the side rafters, the pillars in the vertical area and the exterior end-grain surfaces are covered with rear-ventilated Solarlux aluminium system profiles to protect them from the weather.
  • The laminated wooden rafters are notable for their stability and their outstanding resistance to warping and cracking. Different dimensions are used depending on the structural requirements of the project. The rafters are covered by a double-walled aluminium profile system with a continuous plastic insulation profile. The aluminium base profiles are mounted on the rafters, eaves and roof ridge. This ensures that the glazing is supported on four sides at all times. Impermeability is guaranteed by the clamping profiles, which exert a constant pressure on the double glass panes. Condensate in the base of the rebate is channelled safely into the gutter via the aluminium base profiles and rafter insulation elements. All the seals are made using a non-aging, permanently elastic EPDM material.
  • The powder-coated and rounded system profiles join together to form a harmonic unit. The design has a timeless elegance and optimum protection from the weather.
  • Roof pitches from 5° to 45° available. Wall joint allows for simple installation.
  • Designed for roof glazing thicknesses of 26 to 48 mm with glass support on 4 sides. Pane recess, glazing rebate ventilation and glazing rebate drainage comply with glass industry requirements.
  • The elements are installed against the element rebates, with the sufficient clearance from the pillars and eaves. This compensates for construction and manufacturing discrepancies.
  • The with exterior element rebates and aluminium profiles to protect them from the weather fit all element depths between 50 and 90 mm, and are installed without any internally visible screws. Wooden beams in the colour of the wintergarden next to the pillars and eaves provide the necessary interior support.
  • The mid rail that divides the glass is form-fitted between the rafters, and can transfer the load from the panes to them without any problem. The cascading drainage design ensure optimum drainage of any condensation that forms around the mid rail, eaves and wall rail.
  • The gutter joints are force-fitted with the gutter connectors for connections that fit perfectly at any angle.
  • Wintergarden ventilation via high-quality manual or electric skylights and/or dosing or roll ventilator with automatic control system, depending on customer requirements. Wood protection
  • All the edges are rounded prior to surface treatment to prevent coating from stripping off.
  • Impregnation : immersion process for spruce/fir. Colourless, quick-drying, coating-compatible impregnation agent with fungicidal properties. Properties: protects wooden surfaces from blue discolouration and rotting, penetrates very deep into the spruce, especially in the end grain. High water repellence reduces moisture absorption and significantly reduces the wood’s absorption capacity, improves the adhesion of subsequent coatings, and facilitates even wood staining with no lines or clouding when applying varnishes.
  • Priming : immersion process, wood varnish for exterior and interior surfaces. For priming and colour pre-treatment of deciduous and coniferous wooden components. Base coat for varnishing systems. Properties: water-dilutable, suitable for use in immersion, flow coating and spray coating processes, even surface effect, UV-protection, moisture regulation, extremely quick-drying, low environmental impact due to low pollutant content.
  • Intermediate treatment: spray-coating process, thick water-dilutable varnish for exterior and interior elements, silk gloss, for intermediate and final spray coating of windows and facade elements. Properties: water-dilutable, highly weatherproof, good water-vapour permeability, highly elastic, odourless.
